Styles!!

Woo hoo, I finished my own custom style for all my LJ pages. Check out the friends, calendar, and day views and let me know what you think!!

Server Issues

This morning around 9:45 I got a frantic phone call from one of the ladies in the office. She said that they were having server connectivity issues, so I went in and checked it out. For some reason, one of our servers (actually, one of our domain controllers) was stuck in what I will call a “reboot loop” whereby it suffered from a critical error while Windows 2000 Server was loading, then automatically rebooted. But this time it just kept rebooting, and for some reason many of our other services/servers had crashed because they couldn’t locate the Directory.

So after some work, I was able to get everything back to a quasi-functional state. I had to skip COCO, but it couldn’t be helped. So now it’s off to my next class!

Class Registration

I registered for Spring 03 classes this morning at 8:30… and, I got the classes I wanted :-)

Here it is:
- Computer Architecture, Networks, and Operating Systems (CANOS)
- Database Systems
- Intro to Engineering Design (IED)
- Computer Networking 1 (woo hoo, CCNA here I come!)

So indeed, a great schedule with no class before noon or after 4, except Mon and Wed’s 6-8 computer networking lecture. On Thurs, my only class is 12-2… nice :-D

I was joking with Michelle about it… last semester we had 8 and 9 AM classes, which we considered early to our normal 10 AM classes. Now we’re going to consider our 10 AM classes early compared to our 12 PM classes…. lol….

I found out tonight that a good friend from high school is coming to Albany to visit a friend of hers, and she will be able to spend some time with me too! It’ll be nice to unwind a bit and discuss days long since past over sheesha and dinner! I’m so excited!!!

Plane Tickets!!

I got an e-mail from my parents today. They have placed the order for my plane tickets, round trip to Cairo with window seats all the way! So here’s the breakdown of my flight… (I’m going to Michelle’s house for a few days before and after I leave so she can hang onto my car)

Pittsburgh -> JFK -> Paris -> Cairo

and on the return flight:

Cairo -> Frankfurt -> Dulles -> Pittsburgh

It will definitely be a long flight, but as my Dad put it in his e-mail:

We were almost too late. The planes are filling up fast so it was either this or an overnight in Vladivostok. You’ll be on 4 different airlines. I’m glad I don’t have to pay for this ticket!

So indeed, for all you Cairo peeps out there – I’m definitely coming back this Christmas! I will be there from Dec 20 – Jan 8, give or take a few days. So if you’re going to be in town, drop me an IM!!

Tires

Last month I had my car inspected (NY state inspections), and the guy told me that I almost failed because the tread on one of my tires was too low and you could almost see the belt on the inner surface. But he passed me anyway, but before I travel all over the county in the next few months with it (well, to Pittsburgh and back) I want take care of it.

I took my car to Wal-Mart to get an estimate on the tires. The guy said I should definitely replace my right front tire, because it’s starting to show signs of tread separation, and you can almost see the belts on the inside of the tire. He also showed where two other tires are forming a hairline crack along the edges of the tread. He called it “dry rot” or something. He said that eventually I should get all four replaced.

Wal-Mart doesn’t do alignment, but they offer the best price on the tires and installation. It’ll run $65 per tire (Goodyear Touring) and $10/per to install. That isn’t too bad compared to Sears. However, Wally World doesn’t do the alignment, so the guy suggested that right after I get the new tires installed, I drive across the street to Midas and have an alignment performed. That’ll cost $50~80. Also, the tires come with an 80,000 mile warranty, which the guy said that if they go bad before 80,000, I can bring them to any Wal-Mart Tire and Lube and have them replaced. Sound too good to be true?

We shall see…..

Marie is funny

Ok, my mood is a bit better now after getting my physics test back, thanks to my good buddy Marie (franketta)!! Check out her super cool superhero web page.

Marie is cool :-)

Ok, so my physics test didn’t go as well as I had hoped it would. My goal is not to have to take the final. With that, I need an 82 on all three of the tests this semester, and when that is averaged with homework and activities, it’ll give me an A. On the last exam I got an 87 which wasn’t too bad, but this time I scored a 77. I suppose I’m still within reach, I’ll just have to work hard for it!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!

I spent my Halloween chilling with Michelle watching Must See Thursday, or as they called it, Must Scare TV. We kinda pigged out, as people should on Halloween. Kettle Corn, Reese’s, Ben & Jerry’s, it was a great time!
