I spent tonight at the first annual Miss RPI Contest. Ok, that’s going to take some explaining…
Every year for a long time, one of the local sororities hosts the Mr. RPI contest in DCC 308. Think of it as the Miss America contest without the girls and without the political correctness (horny boys don’t care about world peace!).
The Miss RPI contest is very similar, but with girls (duh!). They give answers that are just as raunchy, and the swimsuits are quite revealing. Now you’re probably thinking that the only reason I went is because for some reason I was feeling extra horny or something.
Actually, I went in support of my friend Katie. She lip-synched to Jennifer Lopez for her talent (and sported a very large ass to make it believable!). Her question was “If you could be a boy for a day, what is the first thing you would do?” to which she responded “I would have someone kick me in the balls so I could finally see what all the fuss is about.” Most of the other girls gave answers to various questions that were made in attempt to flirt with the hosts and/or judges.
So indeed, it was a fun time! Katie placed second out of 9 girls and received a $50 gift certificate to Crossgates Mall. The girl who won (Laura, a learning assistant in the QUAD) was very sweet, sang an Italian opera for her talent, and gave a thoughtful answer to her question. Katie wasn’t particular raunchy either, especially since she wore a one piece. Honestly, I think the judges appreciated the nice girls over the trashy ones.
But there were some problems. The frat the sponsored the event (Pi Lambda Phi) didn’t really advertise until the day of (again, it was Katie who told me about it several days in advance, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have known). It also costs a good deal of money to rent DCC 308 from RPI, and they only charged $3 admission to get in. The proceeds from the event went to Joseph’s House, a local charity.
By my calculations, they couldn’t have made that much of a donation. The turnout was poor, DCC 308 holds about 500 people, but it was less than half filled. They spent a lot of money on prizes and flowers for the girls who won. It’s a fun event, but I found out later that they only donated $400 to Joseph’s House… it could have been so much more!
With that, I’m headed to bed! I took pictures of the event for the school’s yearbook, so when I get those developed (next week hopefully) I’ll post them!

I’m actually a former RPI student and I was wondering if I can get a hold of some of those pictures. I think one of my friend also joined that year’s Miss RPI competition. Well, if you have..please mail me at albutt83@hotmail.com Thank you.
