Snow!!

I just heard on TV that Troy is supposed to get around 20 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow!! I remember a few days ago when the weathermen were promising a dry Christmas. Apparently they were wrong :-)

Too bad I won’t be in Troy or the States for that matter to enjoy it :-( I haven’t had a white Christmas in 6-8 years. It never snows in the desert, and I’ve been here for every Christmas for the past 5 years!

We have three feet! I’m off towards Wynantskill, not downtown… it took them until after 2 PM to get the ploughs out here, and then the first one got stuck in the snow, and then broke down. They had two ploughs out here (one of them got stuck for a short while too), and then a car got stuck as well. They eventually brought out this huge digging truck thing, dug the snow out with that, and pulled the truck out backwards, with a tow chain. It took about 3 hours.

It was nice, for Christmas, but we’re suffering today. :-P

I swear, just as school is out for the semester and I leave Troy, they get all the cool snow!! My luck sucks sometimes :-) If this had happened exactly two weeks ago, I would’ve gotten a mid-week vacation! Then again 15th Street is probably the first street they plow ;-)

But indeed, three feet is awesome! A common occurrence?

No, this is pretty uncommon, honestly. It used to be like this years ago, when I first moved here (early 90s), but… we’ve been having very mild winters. I haven’t seen snow like this for a loooong time. And it all just came down at once like that. A couple of winters ago we had a few feet, but it built up over two or three days. This just started Christmas morning, and stopped overnight. It snowed all day. First really white Christmas I can remember, honestly!

This is awesome, I’m watching CNN International right now, and they just had a correspondent reporting from Albany… OMG I had no idea what 3 feet of snow looked like!!! Apparently some people in the area are without power? So Albany’s snow was shown worldwide on CNN Int. Too cool :-)

But yes, it has been 6 years or so since I’ve been in a place that could have a white Christmas… and what did I do??? I left the country a few days before it hit!!!! LOL…

So level with me, do you think this kind of storm is going to come again this season? (i.e. Am I going to get a day or two off school next semester?)

My sister, who lives in England, also said she’d heard about the weather near Albany, from there!

I have heard it’s going to be a pretty rough winter, more snow than we’ve had for quite a while… so we’ll see. I’ve lost my faith in the winters around here, since for quite a few years, we seem to have had little snow. I’m happy with this though, tomorrow, hopefully, I’m going to go sledding for the first time in years!

Taking what I’ve heard about predictions for the winter into account, and this, and the earlier storms (We had enough down in Long Island, where my college is, that we already got a day off. Though, they’re not so used to much snow there, so it’s only takes about 3 or 4 inches to do that. :-P ), I’d say if nothing else, it’s certainly going to be a snowier winter than the last few… there may be hope!

And by the way, that’s fine that you added me as a friend, I’ll add you back. :)
