April 2003

I have decided I can’t stand to be around people who get ultra stressed out about stuff like schoolwork. It’s like some people just need to take a friggin chill pill sometimes! Especially when they take it out on me for no reason. Some people in this world have it far worse than them, believe me, I’ve met some. I’ve met people whose roofs leak when it rains, or who don’t have a roof at all. How about having little or no food to eat every day? And the interesting thing is that they are usually pretty chill about it. Weird, huh?

I’m not sure what it is about RPI that turns a lot of people into these types of mean animals. I can appreciate the stress level, we all have work to do. But to have so many people who are running around taking their elevated stress levels out on everyone else, in my mind at least, is totally unacceptable. Anyone else agree?

Busy Busy!

With less than a week now until the end of the semester, things are getting pretty busy! But instead of complaining about all of the stuff I have to do in the next 6 1/2 days, I’m going to update everyone on my summer plans.

I’m most likely (as in, already registered for) taking summer classes here at RPI. I have to be in Troy anyway and have a part-time job (plus all of the contract work on the side), so I figured I would get a bit ahead and take some classes.

The other cool thing is that I’m definitely graduating next May. In the fall I’m going to apply for grad school and try to find a job. I want to keep my options open, and I would be happy with either outcome assuming I got a good job. Eventually, however, I would like to attend grad school (it’s just a question of doing it now or after a few years of being in the “real world”).

My parents are also moving back to the States (to our old house in Ohio) from Cairo. The problem with taking classes is that I won’t be able to visit them because there aren’t any breaks long enough to allow me to make the drive. That may have to wait until August. I’m going to try to make one last trip to Cairo in August to visit my Dad, anyone out there wanna come along?? It’d be the trip of a lifetime, I’d make sure of it!!

So that’s a quick update, more in a few weeks I promise :-) Good luck to everyone whose taking finals or finishing with school or graduating or taking IB’s or whatever!!

There sure are some sickos out there. This comes from Headlines on this past Monday night’s Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno:

“This is the SpongeBob Square Pants costume you can get for your dog. No dog is going to wear that! If you do put that on him, he now legally has the right to bite you!”
