So apparently down at Duke University the new students are going to get iPods, preloaded with course content, campus calendar, and contact info. It sounds kinda lame to me, a waste of an otherwise cool piece of entertainment technology.

Damn, I want a free iPod.

As I learned at RPI, free is relative to how much you’re paying in tuition
But it would be nice to get an iPod that I had no choice in getting, I guess there’d be no question about whether or not to buy it! -
lol, good point.
When I was college shopping, either Ball State or UD (I think it was Ball State) had a computer requirement – all incoming Freshmen had to buy a computer from them. Regardless of weather or not you already had a computer – and if YOUR computer was a better one!
I think it was Ball State, because I think the scholorship I won from there included the computer. And I think UD just gave me something pidly like half of tuition.

My University is sort of like that. We all get laptops and the price is worked into our tuition, then we have the choice of buying them every 2 years (when we get new ones). Internet access all over campus and free dial up from home. Pretty good deal I guess…well…they most likely rip us off but still

Yeah… the ones at Ball State were overpriced and underpowered. I could have built a better computer for half the price… oh, wait. I did.

heh, yeah we had IBMs the last two years…now we have Dells
luckily i have my own computer now…i don’t trust having all my work on those..eek
